The Challenge
The Nigeria Startup Act (NSA) is a collaborative effort between Nigeria’s tech industry and the Presidency to co-create regulations that contribute to the growth of startups in Nigeria. The act, signed in 2021, was in response to the need for comprehensive legislation to support and regulate the activities of startups.
Our Approach
As an organisation focused on strategic insights for Africa’s digital economy, we assumed the responsibility of setting up and managing the communications team for the Nigeria Startup Act throughout its creation and passage.
TechCabal Insights facilitated open communication channels among diverse stakeholders, including government officials and industry experts, to reflect the collective interest of the ecosystem. We also led, created, and implemented a robust awareness campaign, leveraging various channels, including social media, newsletters, articles, and speaking engagements, to not only disseminate information about the benefits of the Startup Act but also correct any misconceptions that people may have due to a lack of information.
The Outcome
The passage of the Nigeria Startup Act was a significant development to support the growth of tech startups in Nigeria. The strategic communication efforts led by our team played a pivotal role in shaping public opinion, fostering collaboration among stakeholders, and driving the legislative success of the Act.
