The Challenge
The Foundation considers the digital economy as a major contributor to the goals of its initiatives and has already implemented several interventions. In the wake of COVID-19 and other changing realities, the Foundation launched a program to help redefine what dignified work meant for young women and men in Nigeria and fashion out strategies to achieve the same.
Our Approach
Using a range of research methods and sources of insights, we answered the relevant questions that the Foundation had. To define the potential of the digital economy, we used bottom-up and top-down sizing estimates based on benchmarks, historical performance, and qualitative assessment. To understand the barriers to actualizing the potential of the sector, we conducted field research across six states in Nigeria; we held stakeholder and expert interviews. We also held deep structured interviews with the personas within target communities in each state. Our study was underpinned by secondary studies, literature review, and analysis.
The Outcome
We compiled an actionable report outlining the key initiatives and interventions needed to help the digital economy achieve its potential and place young people in dignified jobs. We produced a stakeholder mapping analysis and engagement strategy for the Foundation. Our report established a baseline snapshot for measures and key trends and assessed its future impact and contribution. The Foundation used our insights and report to refine its strategic approach and pathway outcomes for existing and future interventions.
