The Challenge
The COVID-19 pandemic brought about significant economic repercussions in Africa, causing widespread disruptions in business operations and necessitating adaptations and innovations within the startup landscape.
Our client wanted an ecosystem report targeting startups and organizations from 19 African countries, with a particular emphasis on sectors like health, disaster management, education, and finance.
Our Approach
We conducted an in-depth mapping of emerging businesses across sectors critical to the COVID-19 response, such as health, disaster management, business services, education, food and agriculture, finance, and logistics.
The research methodology involved extensive data gathering, literature reviews, and a focus on innovative strategies adopted by startups to not only survive but thrive in the aftermath of the pandemic.
The Outcome
The report provided JICA with valuable insights into the adaptive strategies employed by African startups in critical sectors. This information will inform JICA’s future initiatives and collaborations in supporting sustainable development in the region.
