Africa faces over $80 billion in annual trade finance gaps, constraining exporters and small-scale producers across mineral and agricultural value chains. Over 80% of African countries remain commodity-dependent, despite the continent holding nearly 30% of global mineral reserves and producing over 70% of the world’s cobalt. Yet most commodities still leave in raw form, limiting local value capture. With intra-African trade at just 15–18%, this reflects a structural gap in coordination, financing, and cross-border execution.
